The Bode City Council met in regular session Monday March 8th at 5:30PM in the council chambers. Council members Dale, Fulwider, Peterson, and Tepner were present; absent Douglas. Mayor Miller called the meeting to order, with a motion made by Fulwider, second by Peterson to approve the agenda as posted. All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Peterson, second by Dale to approve the minutes form the February 1st and 21st council meetings. All ayes, motion carried.

Todd McMahon, City Maintenance informed the council that the phone line to the pump house has been installed, this will allow access to a high, low, or pump failure at the pump house. He also stated that the attachment ordered from Iowa Farm Equipment for the broom was not the correct attachment; he had tried to correct this with the company that it was ordered from with no help from them. He brought the attachment to Algona Machine as to a cost to fabricate it to fit our needs, following discussion a motion was made by Tepner, second by Fulwider to approve a cost up to 1,000 to Algona Machine for this. All ayes, motion carried.

The council was informed that the curb-stop to shut off water at 400 Humboldt Ave was not working properly, City Maintenance directed to call a contractor to repair this.

This being the time and place for a public hearing on the 2021-22 City Budget, there were not any taxpayer’s or citizens present for the public hearing. Therefore the 2021-22 City Budget is adopted as published.

A motion was made by Dale, second by Tepner to approve a 5-day Liquor License including Sunday Sales to the Bode Fire Department for fun night to be held April 10th. All ayes, motion carried.

A motion was made by Peterson, second by Tepner to set City Wide Clean-up days as April 28th & 29th. Again, this year we will charge for furniture and mattresses, electronic waste, and appliances as we have in the past. Every household will be able to utilize this service free up to one vehicle. If more than one load a fee of $40 per trailer, $20 per pickup, and $5 per car will be charged. Look for details in the next city newsletter.

A motion was made by Peterson, second by Dale to set Public Hearing for Water Rates Increase as April 5th @ 5:30PM, the following rates are being proposed:

WATER RATES: Water usage shall be billed quarterly. Water shall be furnished at the following rates per property services within the city limits:

The first 1,000 gallons    50.00/quarterly (everything else to remain unchanged.)
